mirror mirror on the wall, I'm certainly not the fairest of them all

A few weeks ago I went to a Zumba class at the gym fancy athletic club that serves alcoholic beverages. I am very particular about where I stand for the class and was fortunate enough to arrive in time to secure my coveted spot at the back right. I hate standing in the front row at Zumba because THE PRESSURE IS TOO MUCH. People in the back copy the people in the front and DID I MENTION THE PRESSURE. I spent a few minutes studying the others in the room and quickly noticed that the woman next to me was wearing a very similar outfit to mine- black capris and a gray shirt. Clearly it's the uniform of great athletes everywhere.

A downside of this class is that it's in front of a mirror. I dislike this for many reason, most of which are nicely summed up below. (I know I've shown this before but it still applies.)

I know I don't look good when I Zumba, but I'd rather live in a delusional world where I can pretend I do than see my reflection in the mirror. You know what I thought as I saw myself do some of those crazy moves? That I looked like a gorilla. About halfway through the class I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and was pleasantly surprised to see that I looked much better than I expected. In fact, I went so far as to tell myself I looked quite nice and much more professional that I ever would have expected. Who knew I could move my hips like that? I certainly didn't. Then my bubble burst.

I was not looking at myself.

I was looking at the lady beside me who was wearing the same clothes as me.

I'm just as sharp as a lightbulb.

That is too funny!! One day, I will be brave enough to go Zumba. But first, I should start by actually visiting the gym... baby steps!

Oh, that would totally happen to me. I admire your courage. I have longed to be part of a Zumba class, but am so afraid of realizing how truly uncoordinated I really am. :p
